Control Center Secure Access: MFA and Password Reset Setup Guide

Control Center access has migrated to an industry standard, multi-factor authentication (MFA) system, Okta. As part of this migration, all Control Center Users are required to set MFA and reset their password in order to log in to Control Center. Please follow the step-by-step instructions below to easily set up MFA, reset password and improve the security of your Control Center login process.

Before we begin, please note that the new password requirements are as follows:

  • The password must be at least 12 characters long.

  • It should contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number from 0 to 9.

  • It must include at least one special character.

  • The password cannot contain any part of your username, first name, or last name.

  • Usage of common passwords is restricted for security reasons.

You can reset the password using this link https://engineapp.engine.tech/signin/forgot-password and follow the instructions mentioned below or directly from the login page.

Here are the detailed steps on how to reset the password directly from the login page:

Step 1: Navigate to Control Center Login Page by entering this URL in your browser. https://controls.engine.tech/ (Please note that https://controls.evenfinancial.com doesn't work any more. Evenfinancial is now Engine and the URL for Control Center is https://controls.engine.tech/)

Step 2: Click “Need help signing in?” on the login page

Step 3: Click “Forgot Password?”

Step 4: Enter your Control Center Email and click “Reset via Email” button

Step 5: Go to your email entered in step 4 to continue resetting your password using the link provided in the email. If you do not see the email in your inbox, please check the spam folder.

Step 6: Click on Reset Password link in the Email

Step 7: Enter the new password and click “Reset Password”

Step 8: Once you Reset Password, you will need to set up MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). This is a one time setup. You can choose to set MFA using Okta Verify or Google Authenticator app. At this step select one option to proceed.

Set MFA using Okta Verify

Here are the detailed steps on how to set MFA using Okta Verify. You can directly go to next section if you choose to set MFA using Google Authenticator.

Step 1: Select your device type to download the Okta Verify app on your mobile device. Finish downloading the Okta Verify app on your device. Click “Next”.

Step 2: Once you click Next, you will see the QR code that you need to scan on your app to set up MFA. Save the QR code or keep the browser open and launch the Okta Verify app on your device. You will need the QR code in Step 6 to add Control Center account to your Okta Verify app.

Step 3: Once you have opened the Okta Verify app on your mobile device, click “Add Account”. If you have an account already added, click on the “+” sign on top of the app to add a new account.

Step 4: Choose “Organization” as the account type.

Step 5: If you have Okta Verify on another device, you can choose to add account from the other device to the current device or SKIP the step. Click "Skip" at this step to continue.

Step 6: Click “Yes, Ready to Scan” and scan the QR code from Step 10. If you cannot find the QR code any more, go back to your browser and repeat the password reset steps to get a new QR code or alternatively you can click at “Back to factor list” link on the MFA set up page on your browser to retrieve the QR code.

Step 7: Once the QR code is successfully scanned, the account will be added to the Okta Verify app. Click Done

Step 8: After successfully linking your Control Center account with the Okta Verify app, a verification code will be generated within the app. You should see engineapp.engine.tech on your Okta Verify page with a code. Enter this code in the designated field on the Control Center page in your browser to complete the setup.

Step 9: Enter the code from Okta Verify app on the login page in your browser and click “Verify”.

Step 10: Once you have entered the verification code, Control Center will confirm that MFA setup is complete. From this point forward, whenever you log into Control Center, you will need to provide both your password and the verification code generated by the Okta Verify app.

Set MFA using Google Authenticator

Step 1: Select your device type to download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device. Finish downloading the Google Authenticator app on your device and Click “Next”. If you already have it downloaded, select your device type and click “Next”.

Step 2: Once you click Next, you will see the QR code that you need to scan on your app to set up MFA. Save the QR code or keep the browser open and launch the Google Authenticator app on your device. You will need the QR code in step 4 to add a Control Center account to your Google Authenticator app.

Step 3: Once you have opened the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device, click “+” to add a new account as shown below.

Step 4: You will be asked to Scan a QR code or Enter a set up key. Select “Scan a QR code” option and scan the QR code from Step 2.

Step 5: Once the QR code is successfully scanned, the account will be added to your Google Authenticator app as engineapp.engine.tech as shown below.

Step 6: Enter the code from Google Authenticator app on the login page in your browser and click “Verify”.

Step 7: Once you have entered the verification code, Control Center will confirm that MFA setup is complete. From this point forward, whenever you log into Control Center, you will need to provide both your password and the verification code generated by the Google Authenticator app.
