People and Culture

This summer, Even had the pleasure of hosting several interns for 10 weeks. Their assignments spanned various disciplines, from engineering to legal to computer science. Our interns had a fun and productive summer, working hands on with their Even team leads to support some exciting projects and learn the fintech ropes. Each intern was assigned a mentor, someone they would work closely with on projects, and a buddy, someone who could show them around, introduce them to people, and help them whenever they had questions.
Prakash Sekar, a computer science undergrad at Stony Brook University, worked with one of our Senior Software Engineers, Ross. During his time at Even, Prakash worked on backend software upgrades and deployment. He shared a little about his experience saying “Despite having little experience, I was treated as an equal to people of varying positions throughout all of the departments of the company. I also felt that at the end, my project made a positive impact on the code base of the company.”
Mack Zumarraga, a graduate from Pace University with a Bachelors of Business Administration, recently completed a 1000 hour immersive software development course with a focus on full-stack web development with App Academy. Mack was able to apply the skills and concepts he’d learned while seeing their immediate effects as a Software Engineering intern this summer where he had the opportunity to work directly with the Control Center team.
Another Engineering intern who spent the summer with us was Manasi Paradkar, a Masters of Computer Engineering candidate from NYU Tandon School of Engineering. She spent most of her internship on a project implementing a new caching tool. This allowed her the opportunity to work with various platforms and focus heavily on design.
Our legal intern, Leah Gervin, who is in the process of earning her Doctor of Law, JD Intellectual Property Law, from Boston University School of Law, worked with the Growth & Operations team this summer. Leah’s main project focused on recommended solutions based on potential risk tolerance. This led to her introducing a new analysis matrix for the organization to implement.
Zhirui (Paul) Jiang, our Computer Scientist intern and Master of Applied Data Analytics (Data Science) student at Boston University, focused on the consumer experience during his time at Even. During his time at Even, he was able to learn how to use database languages such as Google Bigquery and conduct front-end A/B testing.
Aarem Barge, currently pursuing MS CS from NYU Courant, had opportunity to work as a Software Development Engineering Intern within the Life Insurance Team where he was able to implement a new caching strategy while using an existing platform feature.
The entire team enjoyed working with these bright students throughout the summer and seeing their work come to life.
2023 Summer internship applications open in March. If you’re interested, be sure to apply or reach out. We look forward to the next intern class to join the Even team!
